FINISHED!
My newest comic, Sarah and the Seed, is finally done!
Thank you for hanging in there for the final chapter. I severely underestimated how long 15 pages would take! Also thank you so much to everyone who shared and reblogged this along the way.
Kaguya Hime
The princess returns to her home world.
I did this illustration earlier this year, but am just now getting around to posting it. I’m still not totally happy with it, and may end up redoing it at some point. It’s a great story, and I’d love to a full set of illustrations for it one day.
Night on the Milky Way Railroad
Chapter 5 :: The Weather Station Pillar
Giovanni came to the base of the weather station pillar at the very top of the hill and plopped down into the cold grass. The lights of the town below were burning through the darkness as if the town itself were a miniature shrine at the bottom of the sea. He could faintly hear snatches of children’s screams and bits of whistles and songs. The wind howled far away and all the hill’s plant life rustled.

Night on the Milky Way Railroad
Chapter 4: Night of the Centaur Festival
As Giovanni was about to cross the road, he looked off toward the bridge, where in front of the general store, he could make out 6 or 7 dark figures, with white flowing shirts, headed his way. They were blowing horns and laughing, each carrying a lantern made from a snake gourd. He could tell from their laughs, they were kids from his class. His immediate reaction was to duck away, to hide somewhere while they passed. But then, he made up his mind to go over to them.
I feel like I have enough images of Giovanni looking alone and sad for the moment, so I wanted to show the kids from his class getting their lanterns ready to float in the river. Had a lot of trouble getting the color right on this one and eventually settled for this two color approach.

Chapter 3: Home
“Your father said he’s bringing you back an otter skin coat when he returns home this next time, didn’t he?”
“Everyone at school makes fun of me for that whenever they see me.”
“They all make fun of you?”
Night on the Milky Way Railroad :: Chapter 2
When Giovanni left the classroom, some of his classmates, along with Campanella, were standing under the shade of the tree in a far corner of the school yard. They were no doubt planning where to float the gourd lanterns down the river for the festival later that night without him.

Chapter 1: Afternoon Class
“Giovanni, you know what this is, don’t you?”
Giovanni wasn’t able to give a clear answer. Zanelli, sitting in the seat in front of Giovanni, turned around and giggled at him. He was flustered, his face turned a bright red.
The teacher spoke once again.
“If you were to take a good look at the Milky Way through a big telescope, what would you see that its made of?”
Giovanni was now absolutely sure you would see stars, but just like before, he couldn’t get his answer out.
The teacher, puzzled, turned his gaze to Campanella.
“Well then, how about Campanella?”
But Campanella, who just a moment ago was raising his hand so readily, just stood there fidgeting, unable to answer.
im not sure if those folks on the boat are totally freaked out, in complete awe, or maybe they just don’t even care. they’ve got places to be. more important things to worry about than giant sea monsters.
When I asked the bear, “Aren’t you hot?” he said,
“No, however when I walk on asphalt for a long time I get a bit tired.”
