The creation process of a page from my comic, Sarah and the Seed
FINISHED!
My newest comic, Sarah and the Seed, is finally done!
Thank you for hanging in there for the final chapter. I severely underestimated how long 15 pages would take! Also thank you so much to everyone who shared and reblogged this along the way.
Been toying around with the idea of an Alice in Wonderland illustration for awhile now. Here’s my take on the mad hatter.
Here’s my process for the Kaguya Hime illustration.
Near the the end, there were a few things bugging me that I fixed:
I realized the moon and stars were taking all the focus of the image, so I shrunk the moon, and got rid of about 80 percent of the stars. The moon is a big part of the story, but Kaguya Hime is the main character, and this is her final moment, so I wanted the focus to be more on her, not on the sky.
I brought the warm colors to the front and the cool colors to the back to bring the foreground forward.
I balanced out the hills a bit more to help them frame the focus (Kaguya), rather than just be a bunch of neat hills in the distance with no purpose.

Kaguya Hime
The princess returns to her home world.
I did this illustration earlier this year, but am just now getting around to posting it. I’m still not totally happy with it, and may end up redoing it at some point. It’s a great story, and I’d love to a full set of illustrations for it one day.
New comic finished!

I just finished my newest comic, Our Bloodstained Roof.
You can read the whole thing here! Thanks for reading :)

With the thumbnails out of the way for my next comic, Rocket, my next step is to draw each page at half size. Did a whopping 10 today and I hope I can squeeze in a few more tonight. Once these are all finished I’ll scan them in, print them out double size, and use a light box (or a bright window since I’m poor) to trace them onto bristol board. Then just slap on some ink and call it a day.
Finished comic coming soon!
